GAVIN DEAR and Wallace Booth, who were both members of Scotland's world and European amateur team successes, have been rewarded with places in the 10-man Great Britain & Ireland squad to meet the US at Merion, Pennsylvania, next month.

The place of Dear, winner of the Irish Open amateur crown and the second-highest worldranked player in the squad, was never in doubt but Booth had tumbled to world No.112 and there were seven players ahead of him, including fellow Scots Ross Kellett and James Byrne, who did not make the team.
