RHONA Brankin, the deputy health minister, was at the centre of a row yesterday after accusing a dentist of staging a political stunt when he moved 1000 of his patients out of the NHS.

Kenneth Barr, who is based in Stranraer, threatened to sue Ms Brankin, but because her comments were made in the Scottish Parliament, they have the legal protection of absolute privilege.
