DEREK JOHNSON, who was on the silver-medal end of one of the great Olympic 800 metres finals, has died at the age of 71.
The slightly-built Johnson led a breathtaking race in Melbourne until the final 10 metres when he was caught by the powerful Tom Courtney, of the USA. He lost that 1956 race by a foot, 1min 47.8sec to the American's 1:47.7.See the full content of this document
