MORE than 20,000 people took part in a mass protest yesterday against the loss of hundreds of whisky jobs with politicians warning it could devastate the local economy.
The march and rally in Kilmarnock was part of a campaign against the planned closure of the Ayrshire town's Johnnie Walker bottling plant. Around 700 jobs are at risk following the announcement earlier this month by drinks giant Diageo Politicians from across the political spectrum joined the protest which culminated in a rally in the town's Kay Park.See the full content of this document
