ALEX RAE enjoyed a visit to Red Square with his Rangers team- mates yesterday. Old habits die hard for the 35-year-old convinced that his only European participation with Rangers would be as a tourist.

Instead, the lifelong supporter will be integral to the club's plans to ensure their Champions League involvement does not start and end with a whistlestop visit to Moscow. A 'wish you were here' text message was sent to his wife back in Glasgow, along with a promise to return with the missus in tow. Rae would be delighted to delay the midweek break at least until after Christmas.
