A stormy Hearts annual general meeting was riven with boos, jeers and barracking last night as the club's beleaguered board sought to win hundreds of shareholders round to the prospect of leaving Tynecastle and relocating to Murrayfield.

There were scenes of dissent in Tynecastle's Gorgie Suite, especially for Chris Robinson, the Hearts chief executive, who was verbally abused on a number of occasions. Robinson, a time-honoured voodoo figure among many Hearts supporters, was shouted down and called "a Muppet" and "a clown" by certain shareholders.
