the White House and 10 Downing Street faced growing pressure yesterday when a second Washington insider claimed the intelligence against Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction (WMD) was presented in a distorted and misleading way.

Greg Thielmann, director of the strategic proliferation and military affairs office at the State Department until his retirement last year, claimed the American public had been "seriously misled" over Iraq and WMD, claiming the Bush administration "twisted, distorted, simplified" intelligence.
