Really, they should be shouting "mansion", rather than "house". A group of co-workers have gathered for a game of bingo, cocktails in hand, not in some smoky, sticky-floored hall, but in the the airy, crisp and groovy food hall of the Edinburgh Harvey Nichols department store.

Two young players dart towards the table. "God, I used to do this with my mum and dad," says Cecilia Black. "I used to go all the time three years ago with a group of girls for a tongue-in-cheek night out in London. We made a night of it. It's the bit when you're about to get a full house - then it gets really exciting."
