THE number of teachers from the rest of the UK and overseas applying to work in Scotland has plummeted to a new low because of a lack of school jobs.

Official figures obtained by The Herald show teachers from outside the country registering each year to work here has fallen by more than two-thirds since 2006, from 1128 to just 364.
