AMOTORIST who crashed into a young boy when almost three times the drink-drive limit was spared a prison sentence yesterday.

Police found an empty Buckfast bottle in Michael Feeley's car after he lost control of the vehicle, which then mounted a footpath and struck a five-yearold boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, When Feeley appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court for sentence, Sheriff George Kavanagh told him he had ruled out prison. Instead, Feeley, 33, was placed on probation for 12 months on condition that he attends addiction counselling; ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service; and banned from driving for two years.
