THE number of children given drugs for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in Scotland continues to soar and now costs NHS Scotland pound(s)3.5 million a year, figures revealed yesterday, writes Helen Puttick.

Prescribing drugs for ADHD increased by 6.9% between 2008/09 and 2009/10 and the proportion of young people taking medication for the problem has trebled in a decade.
