IAN DURRANT'S return to Rangers has moved closer after Kilmarnock granted him permission to discuss terms about a coaching role.

The 38-year-old made 347 appearances for the Ibrox club during a 14-year spell, which stretched until the arrival of Dick Advocaat as manager in 1998. He moved into coaching with Kilmarnock and has been credited with assisting the rise of youngsters such as Kris Boyd, Gary McDonald and Steven Naismith into first-team regulars at Rugby Park.
