DEATH came to commuters in Madrid yesterday in backpacks filled with compressed dynamite.

Ten bombs, weighing a total of 200kg, ripped through three train stations in the Spanish capital during morning rush-hour. Each device weighed 25-30kg, small enough to keep in normal luggage.
