I SUSPECT Alex Orr (Letters, September 11) is, like Alex Salmond, missing the point highlighted by James Matthews of London (Letters, September 10). Scotland cannot have its cake and eat it by suggesting that the word united, as in the United Kingdom, could sustain real meaning in decades to come if we agreed unilaterally to further self-government.
