EQUITABLE Life's legal counsel yesterday rebuffed claims that solicitors Herbert Smith had failed to carry out a full disclosure exercise in preparing for the insurer's pounds-2bn claim against former auditor Ernst & Young.
The accusations against the City law firm had been levelled on Tuesday by Mark Hapgood QC on behalf of E&Y. However, responding to a request from the judge, Mr Justice Langley, Equitable's counsel Iain Milligan QC said Herbert Smith had taken a "reasonable approach" to court rules on disclosure, and had handed over all relevant documents.See the full content of this document
