Summary
THE context of the overall price of buying liquids, where only milk at (pounds) 2.55 per gallon is cheaper than fuel, (John B Ashworth's letter, June 7) greatly concerns me.
It costs an HGV tipper delivering animal feed to a farm, an HGV tanker uplifting milk from the farm to deliver to a dairy, an HGV container delivering the bottled milk from the dairy to a distribution centre, an HGV artic delivering milk and everything else from the distribution centre to the supermarket 55p for fuel for every mile they drive, of which 39p goes to the Treasury as tax. It then costs me 12.5p per mile for fuel to drive to the supermarket to purchase the milk, of which 9p goes to the Treasury as tax.See the full content of this document
