Scotland could develop the best services in the world for stroke patients, if more trained staff and extra specialist treatment facilities could be supplied, according to a University of Edinburgh professor.

But Professor Martin Dennis, from the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, emphasised that Scottish stroke research has already led to improved treatments for NHS patients and to reductions in death and disability from stroke.
