ALTHOUGH he left his day job in 1963 - his cover blown perhaps by "the Third Man"Kim Philby - John le Carr's views on his old employer retain authority (Agent of false trails, October 5). It comes as no surprise that the loss of "precious objectivity" in intelligence gathering before the Iraq war strikes him as "the great sin".
