ITseems that the Labour Party is getting really desperate. I can think of no other explanation for Alex Gallagher's nonsensical jibe that it was the SNP who brought down the Callaghan government in 1979, and that they now seek to facilitate a Conservative victory (Letters, February 28). Let us be clear about this - the Labour Party in 1979 had no right to expect support from the SNP, as they have no right now.
