Ferries and Trains

Summary

Elspeth Gardner raised some issues about the timing of ferries and trains at Oban (Letters, July 3). Clearly, CalMac regrets the fact that Ms Gardner missed her train. For the record, MV Isle of Mull arrived at Oban at 1800, which was 15 minutes late. The train departed Oban Station at 1812 as scheduled. Normally the 12-minute time lapse would be enough to enable customers to reach the train.

CalMac now faxes, as a matter of course, the arrival time of the ferry to ScotRail so that adjustments can be made whenever possible to enable late arrivals to make the connection. It is not always possible to hold a train due to connections further down the line.
