SCOTTISH fishermen face further sharp cuts in their fishing times and quotas next year under plans set out by the European Commission.

The failure to turn around declining cod stocks has resulted in a proposed 15percent cut in all the major white fish quotas, and bringing the burgeoning prawn fishery under the same restrictions.
