EDINBURGH Oil & Gas confirmed it was in takeover talks with two Dutch giants, which could result in a pounds-5m-plus windfall for founding managing director Alf Bissett after more than 20 years running the Scottish minnow.

Following the announcement that EOG had received a joint approach from Dyas UK, a subsidiary of the SHV Calor Gas-to-Makro retail empire, and Oranje-Nassau E&P, shares in the company leapt 18-per cent to a record 294.5p.
