Your readers may not generally be aware that the ancient and honourable occupation of postman has been abolished. A woman from the Royal Mail in Colchester has just told me that it is not politically correct and that the correct term is local delivery officer. This is not a joke - it is deadly serious, and so was she.

More than that, she sounded as if she meant it. To be fair, she wasn't happy with postwoman either.
