AT an age when many jump jockeys are starting to think about retirement, the career of Dean Gallagher is set to take off again with the news that the Irishman is to return to the saddle as stable jockey to top French trainer Francois Doumen.

The 35-year-old Gallagher was given an 18-month ban in November, 2002, having tested positive for cocaine, and he was told by the Jockey Club that he would not be able to reapply for his licence again until May 1 of this year.
