THE British sprinter, Jason Gardener, has every chance of claiming the blue riband of Olympic sprinting in Athens. That is the verdict of previous holder Donovan Bailey and also of world champion Frankie Fredericks after Gardener had won the 60 metres title at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest over the weekend.

Bailey, who ended Linford Christie's reign as Olympic 100m champion in 1996 when he broke the world record in Atlanta, reckons that after two world bronze medals, Gar-dener is at last capable of claiming the Olympic prize.
