Summary
SINCE the pre-election pledge by the armed forces minister, Adam Ingram, that there was no threat to Scotland's regimental museums, has been trumped by the Ministry of Defence, we must conclude that it is the generals, not the government, who are in control of defence policy. There is an obvious reason for their insistence on getting rid of regimental museums which they perceive might remain rallying points in any counter-attack to reinstate our regiments to their battle-honoured form and independent status.
What does it tell us of the intellectual integrity of our general staff when they can vindictively pursue our outstanding regiments on the grounds of administrative convenience and marginal financial economies yet do not apparently bat an eyelid at an pounds-18bn defence budget overspend due to their own staff's procurement incompetence? It is their heads which should be rolling - and not those of our courageous infantry regiments.See the full content of this document
