GRAHAM'S Dairies, Scotland's largest surviving family-owned independent, has acquired First Milk subsidiary Scottish Milk Dairies, just days after larger rival Robert Wiseman dropped its own takeover bid following a referral to the Competition Commission.

No figure was disclosed for the acquisition, although one insider, who asked not to be named, said it was "less than the GBP900,000" that Wiseman had offered for the business.
