THERE can be few things on which nutritionists, celebrity chefs and Jeeves wholeheartedly agree. But fish, so the consensus runs, is the sort of wonder food that can protect the heart, impress dinner party guests and provide the brain waves needed to ease aimiable upper-class twits out of accidental betrothals.

To the nutritionist it is cheap, low in fat (unless served with a Glasgow salad - chips) and the perfect source of omega-3 oils, essential for neural development and a healthy heart.
