DAVID Greig is feeling his age. "I wrote this play when I was a young man, " this most prolific of playwrights says of his adaptation of Alfred Jarry's Ubu The King, which opens at The Tron this weekend. "I wasn't that far off being a student, and the original play draws on a British comedy tradition that spawned things such as Monty Python and Little Britain, undergraduate student humour and madeup silly words and surrealism.

"It's this great force of energy and language, which I didn't want to sanitise in any way, or to make it mean anything, because I felt that it didn't actually mean anything. It's just this great adolescent, nihilistic f*** off to the audience."
