* In only the second match between Test playing nations, this promises to be the first top drawer, high octane match of this World Cup. The record in this tournament between these two sides is very close with West Indies having eked out two close wins in the 1996 and 2003 World Cups.

* Interestingly, all four matches between these sides in the World Cup have been won by the team batting first. If history is anything to go by, West Indies might win their fifth toss in a row (they have never lost a toss to South Africa in the World Cup) and might choose to bat first.
