Havelock Europa is to divert resources from its traditional retail interiors operation into its fast-growing school and healthcare furniture business on the back of what it says is a guaranteed doubling of a market where it has a 45% market share.

The Fife-based group reported a 20% rise in pre-tax profit to (pounds) 4.7m on turnover up 12% to (pounds) 97.7m, but admitted that its long-established work for retailers, banks, and hotels had lifted turnover by over a third to (pounds) 52.3m but contributed virtually no profit.
