DAWN FRASER, Australia's iconic female swimmer, set the first of 41world records 50 years ago this week, exploding in the pool with four world records in as many days.
The Glasgow Herald reported her 200m freestyle best 50 years ago today. It had been set in 1938. She was the first woman to win three successive Olympic titles (100m freestyle: 1956, '60, and '64), amassing eight Olympic medals and six Commonwealth golds.
