Forty miles up the north-east coast, something even more momentous was happening in the town of Fraserburgh. Charlie Duncan was scribbling his signature on a two-week contract to become interim manager of the town's Highland League team on the understanding that if he didn't enjoy it, he would walk away. It must been some fortnight.
