SCOTLAND needs to address the hidden sexism in public and private sector salaries or risk being viewed as "Neanderthal", the country's Equal Opportunities Commissioner has warned.

Rowena Arshad said that although the principle of equal work deserving equal pay has now been established, many employers still perpetuate discrepancies through hidden payments, bonuses and pension discrimination. The Equal Opportunities Commission is now to call for mandatory equal pay reviews, not just in the public sector but also the private sector.
