DAMIEN Hirst made an eight-figure fortune last night from the sale of the fixtures and fittings he designed for a London restaurant.

The contents of the Pharmacy in Notting Hill, which he used to co- own, had been expected to fetch up to (pounds) 3m at Sotheby's. However, buyers, who had been forced to queue around the block for a place in the saleroom, spent a total of (pounds) 11.1m for the 166 lots.
