WRITER and director John Hughes, who cornered the teenage market in the 1980s with films such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club, has died.

The 59-year-old, who lived in Illinois, collapsed of a heart attack during a morning walk in Manhattan, where he was visiting family.
