SCOTLAND international Darren Fletcher is to take an indefinite break from his footballing career after it emerged the player is suffering from a severe bowel disorder.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who also plays for Manchester United, has accepted medical advice to take an "extended break" in the hope his illness - an inflammatory bowel condition known as ulcerative colitis - will improve.
