I WAS interested to read your coverage of the Scottish Children's Reporters Administration (SCRA) study of referrals to the Reporter ("One in 20 of all children under two suspected of being neglected", The Herald, November 21).

It highlighted for me that, if there were 5651 referrals of young children, with only 14per cent being referred to a hearing and only 941 being subject to a supervision requirement, a more discerning approach needs to be adopted by those making referrals.
