RAIL accident investigators have launched an inquiry into a freight train that rolled backwards for more than two miles at a site where four track workers were killed by a runaway train six years earlier.
The incident on the West Coast Main Line in Cumbria saw a 663- tonne train roll down a hill, reaching speeds of 50mph, before signalling staff issued an emergency radio alert to the driver, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said.See the full content of this document
