Summary

London calling A record number of artists from Scotland is showing at the prestigious Chelsea Art Fair this year. Among the "King's Road Five" are two first-timers: Shimara Carlow, who handmakes super-delicate silver vases, carafes, bowls and dishes in her Castle Douglas studio, using mermaid's purses and feathers found along the seashore; and Tayside's Susan Basham, whose porcelain sculptures, wall pieces and plates are inspired by the windows and architecture of Venice.

Other artists heading down to Chelsea are Lise Bech, a Dane who has settled in Ayrshire to make fabulous sculptural wickerwork (pictured); Lizzie Farey, the Singapore-born artist and basketmaker from Galloway; and Sarah Campbell of Mogwaii, whose gorgeous contemporary felt blinds and furnishings are made in the Sewing Room at Oxenfoord Castle in Midlothian. See them and 200 other exhibitors from October 11-23 at the Old Town Hall, King's Road, London.
