THOUSANDS of children are believed to be suffering from coeliac disease, a gut disorder, without knowing it.

A survey reveals that as many as one in 100 children in the UK could be affected by the illness, caused by a complete intolerance to gluten, which is found in wheat flour, rye, barley, the basic ingredients of a range of staple foods such as breads, pastas and cereals.
