THE shape of the Scottish Rugby Council (SRC), the sport's new second house, is beginning to emerge with Andy Irvine favourite to see off George Blackie for the presidency of Scottish Rugby.

Nominations for the five district representative posts on the new body had to be lodged by last weekend, and the potential for conflict between the two Glasgow representatives who refused to support the vote of no confidence in David Mackay, the then SRU chairman, has been avoided.
