Summary

MAKE no mistake, Italy is pulling troops out of Iraq following public outrage after the Calipari killing. This was not just an accident or mishap, as spun by the military. It is an incident that reveals the brutality of the occupation, and exposes the careless disregard for human life of the occupying troops. In truth, if Calipari hadn't been a secret service agent rescuing a hostage, a killing like this wouldn't even have made the newspapers.

Many Italians are already aware of this, as is shown by the large demonstrations against the war and occupation in Iraq that have continued to take place there. Berlusconi is being forced to respond to the anti-war movement, or else suffer the political consequences, as did Aznar in Spain.
