Summary
I have a friend who avoids gigs at Oran Mor on the basis that the audience is always comprised of obnoxiously rude self-obsessed incessant gossips. While there may well be something in this, I tend to take the view that concentration should be able to tune out those whose presence is inexplicable, since they clearly like the sound of their own voice more than the noise made by any musicians. Thursday evening tried one's patience however, as moving to several different locations failed to avoid people chirping away like budgies.
Fortunately the acoustic clearly doesn't torment those onstage to the same extent and James Blake seemed happy enough behind his fold- back. But his music does depend on a lot of light and shade in the dynamics and, if you were hoping to appreciate that, it was a less than perfect environment.See the full content of this document
