Himalaya with Michael Palin BBC1, 9.00pm Journey to the Centre of the Earth Channel 4, 6.55pm, Saturday At 14,500 feet, higher than the Eiger, Michael Palin found a little old man in a little old house. The 82-year-old Bhutanese poet sang a stately, sonorous ditty. By way of thanks, Palin sang The Lumberjack Song.
It is such moments that have made Himalaya so memorable. Palin has clambered over the world's greatest mountain range with the manner of someone who has popped off for a camping weekend and managed to stumble upon Shangri La.
