BRITAIN'S top police officer is facing calls to resign over the bungled anti-terror operation which ended with an innocent Brazilian shot dead.

Sir Ian Blair, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, was yesterday accused of being "ultimately responsible" for the officers who gunned down Jean Charles de Menezes after mistaking him for a suicide bomber and for a "catalogue of disasters" that led to his death.
