IN THE run-up to the Iraq War, a number of different agendas emerged in the anti-war camp. For example, there was a Muslim faction which campaigned on the slogan "Israel:

Fascist State", when, in fact, that country is a democracy and Saddam Hussein's regime itself was a fascist state. Likewise, there was a faction which used the war as a handy stick with which to beat Tony Blair and New Labour. Tariq Ali [pictured] acted as its cheerleader with his declaration that regime change was needed "in Downing Street, not Baghdad". So it comes as no surprise that this same stick has again been raised by Moyna Gardner (Letters, January 15). What is surprising is the paucity of her argument.
