The comments by the chairman of David MacBrayne ("Ferry boss warns of price hikes and cuts to services") and your editorial ("Funds must be found to keep island ferry services afloat", both September 27) highlight the primary problem of lack of consistent investment in the CalMac Ferries' fleet (and the associated port infrastructure) over decades.
