Larsson, irrepressible and at his sleek, feline best, put Bulgaria to the sword with two second-half goals scored in 71 seconds to add yet another layer to his legend.

It is said of Larsson that he is privately irked by the view that his shoals of goals merely reflect the turkey-shoot that is Scottish football. Frankly, he shouldn't be riled by those who have remained ignorant of his exploits in an endless series of World Cups and European Champion-ships with Sweden and European club campaigns for Celtic.
