Brian Laws is confident he can win over Burnley's fans after he was unveiled as Owen Coyle's successor at Turf Moor yesterday. Laws, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal, started his playing career with Burnley but was something of a surprise appointment given that he was sacked as manager of Coca-Cola Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday just a month ago.

After Coyle's heroics in getting Burnley promoted to the Barclays Premier League before his departure to Bolton last week, Laws has a tough act to follow and the news has received a mixed response from the club's supporters.
